RSV is a common respiratory virus that can cause serious lung infections, especially in older adults and people with chronic health conditions. The RSV vaccine helps protect against severe illness, hospitalization, and complications like pneumonia. It is recommended for adults aged 60 and older, and for pregnant women (32–36 weeks) to protect their newborns. The vaccine is given as a single intramuscular dose .
